Marketing: A Different Perspective

Is your Toastmasters club successful? There are many factors that determine what makes a successful Toastmasters club. One example would be the 10 criteria or goals that comprise the Distinguished Club Program. This is great, but I would like to view success from a different perspective.   I believe a successful club’s marketing strategy uses more than just the club website, social media, or the DCP goals. It should also include these five characteristics:  Commitment, Enthusiasm, Genuineness, Excellence, and Service.   Commitment – Engage yourself and get involved in the Toastmasters learning process. Don’t just be curious and a spectator on the...

When all...

Are You Wearing Your Toastmasters?

We all know that word-of-mouth advertising is the very best form of advertising. We also know that every Toastmaster (not just your friendly VP Membership) is an important part of their club’s membership efforts. Wearing Toastmasters pins, badges, buttons, and shirts can help get you noticed and start those conversations that can lead others to Toastmasters. Plaques, certificates and even that Toastmaster magazine that you get every month can pique others’ interest. Join presenters Chuck Mencke and Steven Timmons as they discuss how you can get the word out about Toastmasters in less-traditional ways. Membership MondayJune 24, 8:00 pm Conference...

‘Tis the Season . . . for New Members, New Clubs

Membership and Marketing, what season matters? Every season! Our club members are the most important asset District 25 has. As we start the last month of the Toastmasters year, none of us should sit back and be complacent about the number of members in our club nor about helping to charter new clubs. Membership numbers can make the difference between whether a club is Distinguished or not. It also can make a difference in whether the District is Distinguished. District 25’s newest club, Marketing Management, Inc. An important part of the district goals set by Toastmasters International is to search...

TXU Energy Executives Go for the Golden Toaster in Speaker Showdown

TXU Energy’s Toastmasters Club, The Electric Toasters, hosted their very first “Executive Speaker Showdown” last month. The Toasters’ officer team invited TXU Energy’s Vice President and General Counsel Cecily Gooch and TXU Energy’s Chief Marketing Officer Michael Grasso to put their speaking skills to the test in a Prepared Speakers competition during a recent Electric Toasters meeting. The two squared off for the prize – the illustrious Golden Toaster – while members of the Electric Toasters looked on. Taking the podium first was Gooch, who focused her speech on the importance of corporate involvement in community service, followed by Grasso...

Division F Contest Is Where the Gnomes Roam from Home

At the recent Division F International Speech and Table Topics Contest, attendees were welcomed by a band of roaming Gnomes! The contest was held at Sabre Headquarters on May 19, and it is a great example of the community coming together to have fun with Toastmasters. Sabre has a  long tradition of supporting Toastmasters, and the company sponsors two clubs that meet at their headquarters: Sabre Classic and Speak With Success. The Division contest proved to be a wonderful event this year that offered the Sabre community a chance to learn about Toastmasters and gave the contest attendees the chance...
