The second virtual convention of Toastmasters International took place in August, and your Trio was fully present for the Opening Ceremony, education sessions, business meeting, contests, and candidate showcase.  Much work went into this event, and it was evident!

Toastmasters International changed the platform this year to create a dedicated environment meant specifically for the International Convention.  District leaders were treated to a preview prior to going live and were able to test out the platform. This was helpful to know what to expect and how to help our members if needed!

The Opening Ceremony was exciting. As we watched the parade of flags, I recognized familiar faces as Past District Directors Greg Pick and Robi Ley carried flags. Flags from all over the world, albeit from past International Conventions, reminded me of just how wide-reaching our organization is!

The Opening Ceremony was followed by a fabulous keynote speaker, Robyn Benincasa, who encouraged us to Adapt, Overcome, and Win as One. She drew from her experience as a firefighter and extreme race winner to encourage us all to push our limits and know that we can achieve anything!

Later in the week we participated in the business meeting where we listened to candidates explain why they would be the best fit for International Director. Each club either assigned their proxy or had a member present to raise their voices through the power of their vote!

This International Convention was my second to attend, and I am looking forward to participating in person next year in Nashville. Toastmasters International Convention 2022 will be hybrid. Will you join? I hope so!!
