Wichita Falls Toastmasters Club, No. 305 at 70 years old is the oldest, active club in the state of Texas! Club 305 was founded in April 1945 by a local dentist, Dr. Louis Tompkins, who served as the club’s first president. Dr. Tompkins helped form District 25 in 1948 and served as the first district governor. The club has almost 100 ribbons and awards that proudly hang on the original banner. Toastmasters: It’s What’s Not For Lunch
The Servicing Support Department at Nationstar Mortgage no longer requires their Nationstar Speak Toastmaster members to use their lunch hour to attend meetings. Confessions of a First Timer
Confessions are good for the soul; or so I’m told. In hopes of sparing you the mistakes I made as a first timer at a D25 conference, I make my confession of the thing I did wrong; I failed to register for Friday night’s events. Visit from Region Advisor Linda Williams Inspires D25 to “Finish Strong!”
Linda Williams District 25 had the honor of a visit from Linda Williams, Region 3 Advisor, last week. A Region Advisor (RA) provides support and advice to district officers, mostly by phone, but also makes one visit in person each year to each district in the region. It’s important to make the most of the RA’s time. Organizing the schedule is the responsibility of the Lt. Governor Marketing — that’s me. The best way to see what’s happening around the district is to visit clubs! Fort Worth Project Management meets on Tues. In an effort to meet our members, experience club meetings, listen to club concerns, and praise member and club successes, I have been attending as many different Club meetings as possible. American writer and theologian Carl W. Buechner once stated, “They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” Unwittingly, he may have been talking about Toastmasters. In many ways, Toastmasters is the ultimate paradox. Many have indicated that the greatest of all fears is public speaking. Open Yourself to Your Full Potential!
We are all in the pursuit of becoming the best version of ourselves but we are all at different stages of our journey. I had avoided the Toastmaster Conferences in the past because I feared the unknown.
