Wichita Falls Toastmasters Club, No. 305 at 70 years old is the oldest, active club in the state of Texas! Club 305 was founded in April 1945 by a local dentist, Dr. Louis Tompkins, who served as the club’s first president. Dr. Tompkins helped form District 25 in 1948 and served as the first district governor. The club has almost 100 ribbons and awards that proudly hang on the original banner. At the Anniversary Celebration, District 25 presented a new banner to the club! Larry Lambert, the senior member of Club 305, was presented with a plaque for his dedication and...
Thank You!
Thank You Of all the contests I’ve attended, there was none like Division B. An announcement of the free night winner… Surprise, it was me! Gracias, Merci, Thank You! I appreciate this. It is nice to be a winner. Nothing do I wish to miss. Looking forward to the conference, to the people there to meet. Good friends, first-timers, and the famous meals to eat. Don’t forget the educational sessions, lessons that apply to heart and mind. Such useful information, where can anybody find? And important is the teamwork that can be seen at every turn. The time and effort...
Toastmasters: It’s What’s Not For Lunch
The Servicing Support Department at Nationstar Mortgage no longer requires their Nationstar Speak Toastmaster members to use their lunch hour to attend meetings. When asked why, the VP, Ramie Word, responded:“Toastmasters offers a unique opportunity to Nationstar employees interested in expanding their career path. It builds contacts within the areas of Servicing as employees from a wide range of departments meet each week. This allows interaction between employees and departments that may not otherwise take place. Additionally, it builds confidence and improves writing and speaking skills for those participating. Growth within management at Nationstar requires regular interaction with peers, senior level...
Confessions of a First Timer
Confessions are good for the soul; or so I’m told. In hopes of sparing you the mistakes I made as a first timer at a D25 conference, I make my confession of the thing I did wrong; I failed to register for Friday night’s events. I’ve worked all day, I’m tired and I won’t miss anything, I told myself. I can save myself some money, I reassured myself. I don’t want to spend time away from my husband, I boasted to myself. While I was tired and went home, I missed A LOT!! I missed the ONE EVENT which I would have benefited from...
Visit from Region Advisor Linda Williams Inspires D25 to “Finish Strong!”
Linda Williams District 25 had the honor of a visit from Linda Williams, Region 3 Advisor, last week. A Region Advisor (RA) provides support and advice to district officers, mostly by phone, but also makes one visit in person each year to each district in the region. It’s important to make the most of the RA’s time. Organizing the schedule is the responsibility of the Lt. Governor Marketing — that’s me. Our Lt Governor Education and Training Cindy Hinckley gave me lots of help. Being a school principal on spring break, Linda was able to arrange a more leisurely visit...
‘People Get Ready’ to Rock!
Are you ready to rock? If you dig that rock and roll music, mark your calendar for May 1-2 and join the party at the District 25 Spring Conference! Our conference theme, D25 ROCKS!, will set the stage for a weekend of Good Vibrations. We are planning for a rockin’ time starting Friday, May 1. That’ll Be the Day that we Rock Around the Clock with our beloved banner parade, a delightful dinner, and a tantalizing Table Topics contest. For Friday Night Fun At the Hop, we will Dance to the Music and have fun and games with That Rock and...
Out and About with our District Governor
The best way to see what’s happening around the district is to visit clubs! Fort Worth Project Management meets on Tues. In an effort to meet our members, experience club meetings, listen to club concerns, and praise member and club successes, I have been attending as many different Club meetings as possible. At every meeting, whether the club knew I was coming or it was a surprise visit, I have been greeted warmly and felt welcome. Speakers Exchange in Arlington meets on Sun. To my delight, I have experienced wonderful meetings with interesting speeches, fun table topics, and motivational evaluations. Sometimes,...
“…They Will Never Forget How You Made Them Feel.”
American writer and theologian Carl W. Buechner once stated, “They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” Unwittingly, he may have been talking about Toastmasters. In many ways, Toastmasters is the ultimate paradox. Many have indicated that the greatest of all fears is public speaking. It would stand to reason, then, that perhaps the most fearful of places is a Toastmasters’ meeting. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. For the purpose of writing this article, I spent some time reflecting on my experiences in being a part of Toastmasters....

Open Yourself to Your Full Potential!
We are all in the pursuit of becoming the best version of ourselves but we are all at different stages of our journey. I had avoided the Toastmaster Conferences in the past because I feared the unknown. I enjoyed being a big fish in a small pond and grew accustomed to being around the 20 other members at the FAA Toastmasters Club. My vision was small and I lived in blissful ignorance to the bigger Toastmaster world. As I write this, Bruce Springsteen is singing “Born to Run” which is appropriate for the Rock and Roll theme of the upcoming...
