Want to Know How to Do an Open House Well? The Las Colinas Communicators Will Show You

Las Colinas Communicators welcomed four new members after a successful March open house!

Our VP Public Relations Hope Hill worked tirelessly on the advertising and all the LCC members were encouraged to invite a friend. Guests and members were welcomed 30 minutes before the meeting with salad, veggie wraps, cookies, bottled water, and sociable members.

The club was honored to have our wonderful Area 62 Governor Lauren Midgley attend the fabulous event.  Our club president, Gary Samuelson opened the meeting with humor and kept the meeting on track by serving as the Toastmaster.

Thomas Saulsberry and Ankur Bora delivered great speeches that informed and entertained. Jerry Kness served as Topics Master and ensured all Toastmasters had an opportunity to speak — even Lauren participated.

Evaluations were provided and the guests were able to witness first-hand how we as Toastmasters can expertly compliment the speaker’s many good attributes and provide a few recommendations for improvement, all said in a way that is uplifting and beneficial to everyone.

At the end of the meeting we conducted a short business meeting: A motion was made and seconded that each guest present be welcomed into our club as a member if they complete and turn in an application; the motion carried unanimously.

But it didn’t end there! After the meeting our friendly members worked with the guests to complete their applications. Within two hours the monies were deposited, new memberships were entered into the Toastmasters International site, and welcome emails were sent to each new member. Within a day, mentors were assigned and introduced to each new member.

There is only one thing left to say: “Well done, Las Colinas Communicators!”
