Celebrating the Joy of Christmas

The Flower Mound Toastmasters Club celebrated The Joy of Christmas during their regular meeting on December 11, 2014. They enjoyed a buffet style meal and fellowship together with an evening of table topics and welcoming a new member. Rather than a gift exchange, the Event Chair, Margarett Francis, collected donations to purchase Christmas toys for boys and girls in the Flower Mound community through the local CCA.  The club collected $150.00. Margarett and her husband, Donell, purchased and delivered the gifts.  More photos on Facebook. Submitted ByJoyce TrimbleFlower Mound TM Club President

Teamwork Makes a Successful Waco TLI

It’s that time of year again; time to start thinking about officer training. Yes, the spring Toastmasters Learning Institute (TLI) schedule has started. The first sessions were held on Saturday December 13th.  Waco and Denton had the honor of sponsoring the first TLI’s, and it was a GREAT day for training. Waco had a foggy start to the day but it did not stop the Waco officers from showing up. The 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. Meet and Mingle was fun conversation, and “How have you been?” with a touch of laughter. The morning refreshments and afternoon lunch were well done...

The Journey to DTM

At the 2014 Fall Conference, we celebrated with 12 Toastmasters who had recently received their DTM awards. Several of them have shared some of their journey.  WHAT took me so long to achieve my DTM? I could say procrastination, but I was involved e.g., club officer, area governor and frequent member, etc. The BOTTOM line:  I did NOT establish a goal for myself!  The turning point for me was to join a second club which forced me out of my comfort zone. It was that spark that ignited my 11 year journey to DTM. A new year is around the...

Youth Leadership Brings Multiple Rewards

A couple of months ago, I got an opportunity to be the Youth Leadership Coordinator for Extraordinary Toastmasters At East Fort Worth Montessori Academy. I took the opportunity because this is one of the goals I needed towards my DTM. I was apprehensive and excited at the same time. After carefully planning out the schedule with the President of Extraordinary Toastmasters, the leadership club commenced on September 15th. There were 5 students in total, ranging from grade 3 through grade 5. They were pretty enthusiastic from the start, and we worked as a team. The best part of Toastmasters Youth...

“Be Inspired!”

When Gainesville’s Main Street program announced they would have a “Festival of Trees” in our County Courthouse, Cooke County Area Toasters jumped on the idea of putting up a tree to promote Toastmasters. President Pauline Lesch had attended D25’s Fall Conference, and received a bookmarker with a motivational quote on it. As she reported to the club about Fall Conference, the two ideas came together, and the “Be inspired!” theme emerged. We collected quotes for the fronts of the bookmarkers. The backs contain our club mission statement, meeting information and website. Why was that important? Because our tree topper is...
