I keep hearing that each Toastmasters meeting must be high quality; that it must engage each member and guest. What exactly does this mean? The word “engage” means “to be involved with.” How does this translate to providing a high-quality meeting? I believe we can break it down this way: Enthusiasm – Being enthusiastic comes from being glad to be a part of Toastmasters and our particular club. If we complain or seem bored, the energy in our meetings will drop. This leads to people going elsewhere. Remember, enthusiasm is based in the heart, not on the circumstances (ie, the...
Does Your Club Website Deserve Recognition?
It’s that time of the year to select and recognize D25’s best club websites. Is your club’s website ready to pass muster? Does your club have a website that other clubs can model? If so, then it’ll be considered for recognition at this year’s District 25 Spring Conference. The good news is that you don’t have to submit your club’s website for consideration. All of D25’s club websites are eligible if they meet certain criteria. Complete details can be found here. In a nutshell, there are a few very easy requirements. Only websites that have been “rebranded” will be up for...

Assisting him in running the program were District Governor Diana Patton and District Sergeant at Arms James Hansen. The participants were enthusiastic and asked all the right questions....
Toastmasters March Madness: The Numbers Speak Loud and Clear
The March Madness is upon us. Teams that worked hard during the regular season have been rewarded and bracketed. While we are glued to the television sets to see if Baylor would make it to the Final Four or which top team will be sent home as an upset, like Duke, Kansas, or Mizzou, we thought it would be a great time to check the DCP progress of clubs in District 25. The DCP year is July 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012. Over eight months have gone by in the DCP year. Forty-one clubs in District 25...
District 25 Goes on a “Lark”
The word “lark” is defined as “a carefree or spirited adventure.” Lark Doley, Region 3 Advisor Marketing, came to District 25 on March 9-10. Lt. Governor Marketing Dean Lampman and I had an adventure-filled two days with her. Lark has been an inspiration to all the Region 3 districts. She was the first to be appointed to the position of Region 3 Advisor Marketing, which she has held for two terms. (More information on this role.) Our day began early on Friday, March 9, with a corporate relationship visit to IBM. Several of the club officers were present...
Demo Team Stops At City of Coppell
The City Council Chambers in Coppell was the latest stop for the District 25 Demo Team on March 14. The team used their best talents in taking the speaking skills and leadership message to staff members representing several departments from the City. Vivyon Bowman, Director of Human Resources, gave his Ice Breaker titled “My Life With the City of Coppell” and provided the audience with a short glimpse into his 28-year experience at the City. Kathy Brewer coaxed two audience members into answering her Table Topics questions and the Advanced Speech, “The Power of Storytelling,” was delivered by Mike Sheridan....
WBC Toastmasters Are Moving Forward
In October 2011, two members of Westside Baptist Church in Lewisville, Samanda Marshall and Sam Sutherland, ATM stepped out on faith to bring a new ministry opportunity to Westside. On November 12, 2011, the WBC Toastmasters conducted a pre-charter meeting with the help of District 25. The club has been moving forward with exciting momentum to grow membership as a new chartered club. Stepping out on faith has proven to be rewarding as the WBC Toastmasters celebrated their new charter during their monthly meeting on March 17, 2012. The club started with only 22 charter members and has grown to...
