September 12th and 19th were important days for District 25 and our brand. Assisted by the members of the Toastmasters clubs at TCU as well as UTA, D25 members conducted a “Talk Up Toastmasters” event for nearly six hours at recent job fairs! The District Leadership would like to thank those who made it all possible: At TCU (Club #5555): Barbara Alvarez, Ron Buch, Mike Hagin, Andy Jones, JoeAnn May, and Cristina Mungilla. At UTA (Club #2082160): Nikhil Pandey, Greg Pick (Division C Governor), and Yolanda Williams. What is “Talk Up” Toastmasters? Simply stated, one “pitches” Toastmasters to the...

Why Do We Go to Conference?

Several Toastmasters tell why they attended District Conference, and what they found to be significant about their experiences. Humorous Speech Contest winners, Fall 2011 “I came to the conference because I thought it would be fun. I was right. The most significant part of the conference was the speech contests. To me, no matter who won, listening to all of the speakers was the highlight of the conference.” “As a club President, I wanted to fully participate in all aspects. I thought the education sessions would be beneficial (and they were) to help me be a better leader.” “Conferences are...

Dues are Due

Dues are due.  Those are words you’ll hear often as a member of a District 25 Toastmasters club. Experience has shown it takes considerable effort and many reminders to get members to decide to renew their memberships and render payment. When you hear the words “dues are due,” it’s actually a reminder of what’s necessary to keep you eligible to compete in speech contests (which we hope you’ll want to do): being a member in good standing of a club in good standing. For that, you must have paid your dues into a club that has at least six members...

Meeting Location: Confirm if your meeting place is big enough, has good parking, easy access, low noise and other amenities. Quality location = pride in club.     3. Attitude: Everyone’s responsibility. Members will gain more benefits from...
