Welcome to the new Education and Training blog for District 25

It’s going to be another great year for District 25 members! I will be focusing on enhancing our educational experience and encouraging all to achieve their goals, both in and out of Toastmasters. This blog will keep our members informed about all aspects of education and training throughout the district. One of the keys to our district’s well-being and success is including and engaging everyone. Open communication is a prime ingredient in keeping everyone informed and up to date on what is happening, what needs to happen, and the opportunities that exist for them. A new Toastmasters year begins today!

My wish for each of you for the new year is one of self discovery, personal achievement and new friendships. Set your club and personal goals now so they can be realized early in the year . . . and then set more! Share the knowledge and skills you continue to develop. I am confident that working together will insure personal, club and District success in 2014-2015. If our members (you) are happy, our clubs will thrive and District 25 will grow with “gusto”! Ready…, set…, let’s get started! IT TAKES A TEAM! Submitted ByMarylee Mims, DTMDistrict 25 Governor 2014-2015

A Fireside Chat

Anyone who attended the 1st Summer TLI this past Saturday probably felt as if they were sitting fireside. The room was warm, fans were whirling like crazy and water was being hand delivered. Then we had the surprise attendance of a special visitor. Jodie Sanders queried during one interruption from the tiny guest, “Does anyone know if he signed in for this?”  I must admit that I was a bit leery of the new 3.5 hour officer training schedule. I was very pleasantly surprised by the content and the presentation. Cindy Hinckley, Jodie Sanders and Tammy Bailey tag teamed to...

Toastmasters Experience Lands Local Author Speaking Engagements

On June 14th, Julie Cosgrove, President of Top Notch Toastmasters, spoke to the DFW Chapter of American Christian Fiction Writers at Bedford Public Library on how public speaking could enhance their public presence and increase their book sales. “We mostly communicate in two ways,” Julie told the authors. “Writing and speaking are two peas in a pod. If you write, you need to become proficient in public speaking.” She continued to explain how Toastmasters had helped her not only get her message out to the world, but land her an average of seven paid speaking engagements per year over the...
