It’s Parliamentary, My Dear Watson

Don’t know when to call for the question or in what order to take a vote when there are amendments to amendments of the main motion? What does it mean when someone calls for “orders of the day”? How do you get a motion that has been tabled brought back to the floor? Who the heck was Robert anyway and why did he make so many rules?

Here is your chance to learn how to use Robert’s Rules of Order to conduct a properly run business meeting.   Longtime Toastmaster and parliamentarian Jim Monahan, past District 25 Parliamentarian for 13 years, is offering a course in parliamentary procedure this fall. You will learn from the best as Jim was selected as Parliamentarian of the Year for 2012 by the Texas State Association of Parliamentarians!

Who?  District 25 members who wish to learn to run a better business meeting, along with those who wish to become Registered Parliamentarians
What?  8 class sessions designed to prepare participants for the National Association of Parliamentarians exam
When?  7:00—8:30 PM on the following Thursdays: Oct. 3, 17, 24; Nov. 7, 14, 21; Dec. 5, 12 (Dec. dates are for test preparation for those who wish to take the NAP exam and are tentative depending on Jim’s Santa schedule)
