Joyce Trimble, Mentoring Chair and Immediate Past President of Nationstar Speaks, introduced the club’s Outstanding Mentor of the Year program for the year 2014 – 2015. Joyce enrolled the assistance of many Toastmaster friends to identify traits of a mentor. She assimilated those traits into 5 common categories:
- Willing to Commit
- Able to lead by example
- Listening to Mentee’s Why, Where and How
- Knowledgeable of Toastmasters and
- Stimulating Growth
From those traits came a definition of an outstanding mentor: One who WALKS with a Mentee.
Joyce presented quantifiable actions that define the 5 traits; earning the club’s mentors points for each month, July – June. The mentor accumulating the most points will be recognized as The Outstanding Mentor of the Year for 2014 – 2015 at the club’s anniversary meeting in August 2015.
