On May 13, 2014, four students were selected to speak before the Fort Worth Independent School District Board Members and a packed house of two hundred or more attendees.
These students are fourth and fifth graders at Bill J. Elliott Elementary School located in Fort Worth and they had just successfully completed the eight week “Youth Leadership Program.” In fact, we had a total of thirty-three students participate in the program, sixteen in the fall semester and seventeen in the spring semester.
The students’ oral presentations to school board and others were entitled “Receiving a Good Education.”
Upon conclusion of their presentations, School Board President Christene Moss, commented that she “would love to see Youth Leadership Programs implemented in all of our schools.” And what the president wants, she normally gets.
You can see their presentation to the board here. They begin at about 4:45 minutes into the video.
