Phi Rappa Yappa Hadda Open House

Phi Rappa Yappa Club #6497 held an open house on Thursday, June 13 at the new club location, 1600 Corporate Ct #140, Irving. The toastmaster was our own Mark Parrish, club president.

We had two speakers for the meeting; an Ice Breaker from a newer member who signed up just a month ago, and a more seasoned speaker with a speech from an advanced manual. Both speeches were GREAT and showed the visitors how Toastmasters can help you grow.

Table Topicsmaster Cindy Warmbrodt was able to get members and guests involved with a nifty idea using fortune cookies.

The general evaluator Kristen Mead did a wonderful job of introducing her helpers and recapping the meeting. Visitors were shown that improving as a public speaker is just one aspect of Toastmasters. They were able to see that evaluations offered recommendations for improvement as well as reinforcement of a speaker’s strengths.

Guests were given packets with a sample of the Toastmaster magazine, information about what Toastmasters has to offer, and a membership form just in case they wanted to go ahead and sign up.

Phi Rappa Yappa is in a rebuilding process, so it was very exciting to see 18 people at the meeting with eight visitors. One new member signed up that day and several I am sure will be back.

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 12:05 pm. The club’s website is up and running at http://6497.toastmastersclubs.org/.

We expect many more fun-filled meetings in the near future and we look forward to seeing you soon!
