You did it! District 25 is a Distinguished district for the fourth year in a row. With more than 90 Distinguished clubs, D25 greatly exceeded even the President’s Distinguished standard (73 clubs). Such outstanding results demanded many valuable contributions from you and each of the district’s more than 3,000 members! Please take a moment to reflect on your achievement and what it required:
- You and other club members made time to read manuals; plan and complete assignments; wear the many hats of a Toastmaster in meetings; mentor other members; and uphold the 10 promises of a Toastmaster.
- Club officers attended summer and winter trainings; wrote and followed club success plans; motivated members to complete education awards; coordinated open houses or pursued other ways to attract guests and members; handled all aspects of club administration; and solved problems in Executive Committee meetings.
- Area Governors visited each of the four or more clubs assigned to them at least twice; offered encouragement and advice to officers and members (both in person and in visit reports); coordinated speech contests; attended and promoted district events; and helped identify future district leaders.
Supporting each of these vitally important groups was a leadership team composed of Division Governors, district staff, and the district trio. It was a pleasure for me to serve with District Governor Bonne Stroman and her team and see the results everyone achieved.
In this past year, as in the three years preceding it, D25 racked up numbers to be proud of, but they matter because they reflect what happened at the club level. There, you delivered on the program’s promises – keeping Toastmasters a fun, affordable, nurturing, and effective way to improve speaking and leadership skills. In doing so, you made our world a better place. THANK YOU!
Bonne invited you to “Explore the Possibilities.” You did so with verve! I know you’ll continue to do amazing work in 2013-2014, as we focus on “Looking Forward, Giving Back.” Let’s make it great!
