Speakers Bureau – Amy Shirley
When Amy first started pursuing a career in personal coaching, she was excited because it gave her a career path to help people develop and grow without having to write a book or do public speaking. Who knew that twenty years later, she would be doing both?
An avid reader, her love of personal development came from books like Steven Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, that her dad would make her read when she was grounded. In hindsight, it wasn’t exactly punishment. At the same time, she was gaining experience in front of audiences singing. Amy toured the US and abroad as part of the acapella group Best Friends while attending Lubbock Christian University before earning her MBA from the University of North Texas and her Certified Professional Co-Active Coach designation from the Co-Active Training Institute.
In the time since, she spent seventeen years working with small business owners and corporate teams alike in the areas of sales, leadership, and business growth before pivoting in 2019 to focus on her passion—helping people with autoimmune and other chronic illnesses to have less pain, more energy, and more joy so they can get back to living life on their terms, not their illness’.
Since joining Toastmasters in 2020, she has won speech contests, mentored other members, and served as an officer of her local club. She has also appeared as a guest on fellow Toastmaster Craig Sims’ podcast, Searching for America.
