Important ERP Launch Update – From Toastmasters International

Dear Toastmaster, As we prepare for the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform launch, testing is taking longer than expected. It is important to us that the transition to the new platform is as smooth as possible, so we are delaying the ERP platform launch by two weeks, until May 23. Below is an updated timeline of service interruptions, as well as how they may impact you. Important Dates to Note: Now–May 17 While submitting education awards in Club Central is unavailable, awards can still be submitted to World Headquarters by emailing educationprogram@toastmasters.org up until May 17. The Rhythm of Life

The Rhythm of Life

by Ankur Bora PM5 Love is the most powerful force in the universe. Love unites us. To love ourselves and others without conditions is the true natural state of humanity. Without love, we are separated by our judgments, preconceived notions, and personal preferences. With it, we are magnificent. Twelve years ago, I visited a school in India and met a young American, Dhaujee Kelly. Her story of love and compassion resonates with me even today. Kelly was a student intern who travelled from Baltimore to teach English to students in India. When I spoke with her, I was surprised to...

April Showers Bring May Flowers

April Showers Bring May Flowers

by Lola Stone, D25 Contest Coordinator 2021-22 Spring has officially sprung with warmer days, blooming landscapes, rainy weather, and rainbows. Spring is the time of new growth and new experiences. Just like spring, Toastmasters contest season is also time for new growth and new experiences. I encourage all Toastmasters to step outside of their clubs and take advantage of these additional growth and networking opportunities. Volunteering to serve at a contest provides leadership experience, and watching the contestants is like taking a masters class in public speaking and storytelling! Area Speech Contests ended in March, and all 1st Place winners...

Lessons of a Speechcraft Coordinator

Lessons of a Speechcraft Coordinator

by Kelley Rene PM4 Administrative Manager The word Speechcraft captivated me the first time I heard it. I didn’t know what it was, but I knew I wanted one. My club, Westlake Toastmasters, hadn’t hosted an Open House since being forced online by the pandemic. Our numbers were dwindling, and we wanted to get ahead of the trend. As VP of Membership, I did my homework. To my surprise there wasn’t a lot of information about hosting a Speechcraft, but I wasn’t dismayed. My club President supported the initiative. I purchased the Speechcraft package from TI and began the planning...

Basecamp, Level Completion, and Home Club, Oh My!

Basecamp, Level Completion, and Home Club, Oh My!

by Greg Pick DTM Pathways Coordinator How do Basecamp, Level Completion, and Home Club relate in Pathways – quite splendidly it turns out.  Let’s explore! Basecamp – the online learning platform where members access their Pathways Learning Experience curriculum. There are tutorials for maneuvering around basecamp, and there is access to evaluation forms for each project.  Basecamp provides a personal record keeping system for the member’s benefit.  Members can access all levels in any Path and after completing the projects on a level can get a certificate of completion. Level Completion – this tab appears after reading and completing the...

Build a House Without a Blueprint?

Build a House Without a Blueprint?

by Robi Ley DTM 2018-2019 District Director Really? Would you really try to build a house without a blueprint? What do you think the result would be? With no starting guideline, the finished product would probably be a bit of a mess. You might be able to live in it, but it likely wouldn’t be very efficient or attractive. It would also take longer and be more expensive. The same concept applies to your meeting agenda. Why would you have a meeting without an agenda, or a blueprint? Yes, you may have a meeting, but will it be efficient? Attractive...

March 2022 Open House Winner – Clearly Speaking Toastmasters

March 2022 Open House Winner – Clearly Speaking Toastmasters

by Emily Murray DTM Club Growth Director. Clearly Speaking had an exciting Open House/Golden Gavel meeting on March 23, 2022, with Ron Davis giving a speech on ‘Not Wasting the Moment.’ He eloquently demonstrated how to capture an audience from the first word (or non-word)! With 5 guests and the Area and Division Directors in attendance, a wonderful time was had by all. The Zoom Master & Toastmaster smoothly engaged the virtual attendees in every aspect of the meeting, except for the in-person food. Reports are that the food makes in-person attendance really worth it, because West Texans ALWAYS dish...
