District 25 members and families had a wonderful time “Celebrating Excellence” in beautiful Capp Smith Park on Saturday, June 18th.
In spite of the heat, about 60 people enjoyed the afternoon together.
Rose and Steven Timmons went all out as the Special Event Chairs.
Good food and drink were in abundance, and everyone took full advantage.
Hot dogs, corn-on-the-cob, fresh fruit, cookies and ice cream were all popular menu choices.
Kim Story, the “games captain,” scored her biggest hit with the Giant Jenga, which kept some aficionados busy the entire time.
It was a definite plus for players to be in the shade while studying their next strategic move.
Amazingly, the stack of wooden blocks could lean over quite a bit before it would come crashing down.
Everyone (including the very youngest future Toastmasters!) enjoyed just being able to visit together and make new friends.
Longtime members chatted with new, spouses and children were introduced to all.
Though the sun was hot, the breeze was steady – and as the familiar saying goes “A good time was had by all.”
