Greetings from Flower Mound Toastmasters club! Look what we have been up to!

We had a WONDERFUL OPEN HOUSE on Thursday night! “If you will build it, they will come! AND THEY DID!” Meetup, Facebook and Club Website all shouted out to the public to come and see. Then Thursday night, the doors were open, a glorious table was set with pizza, veggies and goodies,  CD’s were ready, visitor packets all lined up to go, and voila! Guests and members filled the room.

The theme was High Anxiety, as we introduced each other, members and guests. We learned a little bit about the Anxiety Health issues in America and then launched into a special presentation from our own Scott Smith who is a licensed professional counselor on How to Cope with Anxiety, followed by a demonstration complete with a CD for everyone on how to do relaxation exercises. We really let our hair down, as Scott talked us through some basic relaxation techniques! VP Education Jorge Best delighted us with a whole selection of thought-provoking Table Topics. To wrap up the evening, Iljin Han gave a thorough evaluation of the whole evening.

So many guests showed up, we had approximately 25 people. We issued a door prize drawing and guest Radha Sathe won a copy of an inspirational book, “Stress is a Choice.” Flower Mound grew by three new members last night, but we grew much more in camaraderie, fellowship and teamwork.  Kudos to Flower Mound officers Iljin Han, Jorge Best, Marjorie Jarels and Debra Sanford for putting on a great event. Special thank you for all the members, especially Roger Giddan (who stepped up and helped with membership), Os Lassberg (stepping up and filling the toastmaster of the day role) and Judy Conley for assisting with the food and helper roles. Great fun was had by all!
