A Reflection for the New Year

Shine a little brighter in 2012!

The New Year is a time to reflect and recommit. As a Toastmaster, Club Officer, or District Leader, let’s do just that so we will shine a little brighter!

What were our goals as we began our 2011-2012 Toastmaster year? Perhaps as a member it was to complete that next education goal. Perhaps it was putting together a plan to be a Distinguished Toastmaster by the spring 2012 conference or perhaps fall 2012 Conference. As an officer, what were your goals? Perhaps this was the year you wanted to be sure that all officers were trained, that your club completed the year as Distinguished or even Select Distinguished, or better yet, President’s Distinguished. You as an officer wanted your club to shine a little brighter!

This is the time to check our plan and make necessary adjustments to ensure that we will meet those goals. Let’s each and every member of District 25 let our light shine a little brighter by making our meetings the best they can be. Be the light that shows new members what Toastmasters can do for them. Make sure you are on the schedule to give that next speech. Volunteer to fill a role that you haven’t done for a while. How about reading up on how to be a better evaluator? Become a leader in your club. Mentor another member or officer. Shine a little brighter!

How long has it been since your last education achievement? My challenge to each member of District 25 was to complete at least one education award every 18 months. By doing so you can shine a little brighter!

Make sure you start the year off right and schedule your club’s executive committee meetings. Make them a regular event so that your club officers work together as a team to make sure your club will shine a little brighter!

Let’s make this our best Toastmaster year ever by ensuring we have put a plan in place to make that happen and working the plan so that we as members and clubs will shine a little brighter!

Please reap the benefits of what Toastmasters International and District 25 have to offer you as members, club officers and clubs so that you can shine a little brighter!

District Governor
