The Ashton Depot, before the event |
And a great time was had by all! District 25, we definitely GOT OUR PARTY ON! On Saturday, August 27th, 260+ Toastmasters and friends gathered for our annual Awards Banquet, at The Ashton Depot in downtown Fort Worth.
Attendees were met at the door by our enthusiastic greeter, Ron Clark. Massive arrangements of white, blue and purple ostrich feathers rested on tables draped in deep purple. Our ushers made certain that everyone was seated at the proper places and the program began. Past District Governor and newly-elected Region III International Director David McCallister emceed a program filled with recognition for every accomplishment in District 25 during the 2010-2011 Toastmaster year. He read names, we took pictures, and cheered our fellow Toastmasters as they received well-deserved accolades for their accomplishments.
Steve Bomar of Bomar Photography provided the opportunity for all to have professional photos made on the mezzanine level of The Ashton Depot. A link to his photos has been provided for you to see us ladies dressed up in our finery. And the guys didn’t look too bad either! Mark Novak, the official District Photographer, was busy saving for posterity the images of our “Night of Dreams.”

Judy Pérez roasts David Martin |
Judy Pérez and Diana Pittman provided the laughs and cold hard truths as we roasted outgoing District Governor David Martin. What a joy to see his life pass before all our eyes as the video was played. Great job, Judy and Diana! I also thank David Martin for his challenge to us all to “Dream, Discover, Believe, Achieve, Succeed” during his year as District Governor. David, thank you for your service.

The “Event After The Event” was a blast. Mark Tresnicky, a Toastmaster and principal of Mobile Music Magic, kept everyone on the
dance floor with his great mix of music and, for me, NO JAZZ!
We even veered off into karaoke at one point. We closed the place down! Thanks to all who supported the Cash Bar during the evening.
I must thank each member of the committee who worked so diligently to see this event become the success it was. Each committee member knows how much I love them and appreciate their hard work.
Thank you to everyone who attended. This is a must-do event every year on the last Saturday of August. If you were unable to make it this year, do not miss next year!
